At mokapot.co.uk, a recommendation only goes on the page when we'd genuinely make it to a friend. Here's how we research, test and rank the coffee makers we cover, and how we keep our advice honest and current.
How we choose what to test
We start with the products real UK buyers are actually considering: the best-sellers, the classics, and the models people ask about most. We track what's recommended across coffee communities (including Reddit's r/coffee and r/espresso), specialist coffee publications, and verified Amazon reviews, then shortlist the models worth a closer look.
How we test and assess
Where we can, we brew with the products ourselves and judge them on the things that matter day to day: the quality of the coffee, how easy they are to use and clean, build quality and durability, and value for money. For factors that need long-term use, like how a gasket holds up or whether a glass beaker survives daily life, we lean on large volumes of verified owner reviews and the consensus of trusted coffee experts, and we say so clearly rather than pretending every claim is first-hand.
How we rank
We don't crown a single "best" and force everything else beneath it. Instead we match products to needs: best overall, best for induction, best budget, best for travel, and so on, because the right coffee maker depends on your hob, your budget and how you drink. Each pick gets a short, honest verdict that includes the trade-offs, not just the upsides.

Prices shown are for the UK market and can change frequently. We refresh pricing regularly, and always recommend checking the final price on the retailer's site before buying, as that's the figure that counts.
